High vigilance at the border checkpoint to prevent Omicron from entering will be discussed here. High vigilance has been adopted at the Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Sustapur) border checkpoint to prevent entry of ‘Omicron variant’ of Kovid-19, which was recently identified in South Africa.
According to the District Administration Office, high security vigilance has been adopted at the Triveni Customs bordering India. Chief District Officer Manmaya Bhattarai Pangeni said that high vigilance has been adopted at the border along with health awareness to prevent the new variant from entering the district.
“We have set up a health desk at the customs from Triveni Health Post to secure the border,” she said. He said that even though the Triveni customs was open, there was no import or export of goods other than passengers through this checkpoint.
“Only passengers are passing through the Triveni customs. Freight vehicles have not entered through this checkpoint,” said Chief District Officer Pangeni. He says health coverage has been neglected in recent times as coronavirus infections have been declining.
She said that initiatives are being taken with the federal government to facilitate vaccination by increasing health awareness in the district. Saying that modern vaccination for children has been started, Prajia Pangeni informed that preparations are being made to give a booster dose of Verosil to the senior citizens. Stating that corona virus infection may increase, she said that they are monitoring the implementation of health measures in the district.
Chief of the Health Office, Nawalpur, Keshav Prasad Chapagain informed that a modern vaccine against corona virus has been started for children between the ages of 12 and 18 in the district from today.
He said that the first dose of modern vaccine will be given to 45,000 students of the district by December 30. According to him, the second dose of Modarna will be given to the students from January 2. Eighty-five percent of the population over the age of 18 in the district has already received the first dose of corona vaccine, said Chapagain.
According to him, the total number of people who have been vaccinated so far is 110,000 and the number of people who have been vaccinated for the first time is 185,000. He said that preparations are being made to give the first dose of the vaccine to the citizens above 18 years of age within the first week of January.
Chief Chapagain informed that the district is fully prepared for the prevention and treatment of corona. He said that isolation of about 200 beds is being prepared in the district hospital and local level municipal hospital. Stating that a team of doctors and health workers has been mobilized at every local level, Chapagain said that there would be no shortage of oxygen in the district this time. “There is no shortage of oxygen like in the first wave,” said Chief Chapagain. “We have enough oxygen, concentrators and other materials.” Chief Chapagain said that the local level health institutions have been alerted to prevent the spread of corona.
